A 28-year-old Bedford man has been sentenced to 180 years in prison for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy, the Tarrant County district attorney’s office reported Monday.

Timothy Card, who had a previous conviction for sexual assault, was convicted Friday of four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child.

Jurors sentenced Card to 90 years in prison on each count. State District Judge Ruben Gonzalez ordered that two of the terms be served consecutively, according to a news release.

Prosecutors presented evidence that Card sometimes lived with a family in North Richland Hills who hired him to care for an ailing relative. In August 2011, an 8-year-old who lived in the home told his mother that Card sexually assaulted him.

In 1998, Card spent 54 months in a juvenile lockup for assaulting a young neighbor. The neighbor, now an adult, testified last week.

In 2006, Card was sentenced to 15 months in state jail for failing to register as a sex offender, the release said.
