Piano guild holds auditions in Mansfield

American College of Musicians National Piano Guild will sponsor three days of auditions for the Mansfield Center. This event occurs during National Music Week with the theme – “Music- --The Colors of Life.” Teachers from Mansfield and Arlington will present students in private auditions at various levels and lengths of programs.

The 2013 judge for the Mansfield center is Shirley Anderson (Mrs. Marcus) of Abilene. She holds two degrees in music from Hardin-Simmons University and has maintained a successful independent piano teaching studio in Abilene for 30 years and was honored three times over the years as their teacher of the year and received the Texas Music Teachers Association Award for Outstanding pre-collegiate Teaching in 2001. She has served on the state TMTA board of directors for two terms and is currently president of the Abilene Music Teachers Association. She is a permanently certified member of Music Teachers National Association. Her daughter and family reside in Arlington.

Mansfield piano teacher Dee Walraven is chairman for the Mansfield Guild center.
