Two men stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry from a Denton jewelry store Saturday morning after one smashed display cases and another suspect brandished a handgun at employees and customer.

After stealing the jewelry, the two suspects ran out of the business and jumped into a red car driven by a third suspect, police said in a news release.

No injuries were reported.

The daylight holdup occurred just after 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Ehrhart’s Jewelers at 260 South Interstate 35E.

Police gave this account of the holdup: Initially, a man walked up to the business, an employee hit a buzzer to allow him inside, but he held the door open as two other men jumped out of the red car and ran into the jewelry store.

The man who had held the door returned to the red car to wait for the suspects.

Once inside, one suspect wearing a mask and a Kansas Jayhawks hooded jacket held a gun to the employees and customers. The second suspect smashed the display cases and took the jewelry.

The robbers left the business and got into the red car and left the scene.

Police described the car as a 2012 or 2013 red Buck Enclave with temporary tags in the back window. Both front and rear license plates had “Classic Chevrolet” placards, but no real plates.

Anyone with information should call Denton police at 940-349-7961.
