An unidentified body was found Saturday by deputies after authorities received information about a deceased person in the northern half of the county.

Authorities said that the body appeared to have been at the location for an “extended period of time.”

Deputies with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office including Sheriff Michael Cox and Hillsboro police processed the scene, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Authorities did not provide any details of the scene.

But the news released noted that a crime scene technician and a crime scene trailer responded to the scene.

Justice of the Peace Charles Jones of Hill County ruled that a cause of death could not be determined at the scene. The body was sent to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas for an autopsy and identification.
