Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington, a former TCU standout, was arrested Friday after being accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, who authorities said is the mother of his baby daughter.

Maricopa County prosecutors said Washington’s bond was set at $4,200 following his initial court appearance. He was booked into jail on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault.

A probable cause statement released by Phoenix police said Washington’s ex-girlfriend claimed he grabbed her by the throat and shoved her to the ground following an argument at her apartment Wednesday.

The woman told police that Washington also pushed her with two hands, causing her to fall and break her right collarbone, according to court documents.

Police later interviewed the woman and their report noted her clavicle injury along with “road-rash type of scrapes, bruising and cuts to her right arm, right hip and right leg.”

Washington led the Cardinals with 134 tackles — 108 of them solo — and nine sacks last season and signed a six-year contract extension in September.

He was recently suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Briefly

• Ravens: Steve Spagnuolo, former Rams head coach and defensive coordinator for the Giants and Saints, was hired as a senior defensive assistant. ... Ole Miss basketball player Murphy Holloway, who hasn’t played football since his sophomore year in high school, was signed as a tight end prospect. Holloway, 6-foot-7, 250 pounds, averaged 14.5 points and 9.7 rebounds this season.

• Dolphins: Florida lawmakers failed to approve a deal to provide taxpayer support for a $350 million upgrade of Sun Life Stadium. The move could affect Miami’s chances of getting another Super Bowl and likely makes San Francisco’s new stadium the front-runner to host the 50th Super Bowl in 2016.

• Texans: Veteran safety Ed Reed, who signed a three-year, $15 million contract in March, had surgery last week to repair a tear in his hip. He will miss organized team activities (OTAs) but is expected to be ready for training camp.
