A Fort Worth couple have been jailed in an April 22 attack in a car in north Fort Worth that left one woman dead and two other people wounded.

In addition to a murder charge, Gilbert Collins, 32, and his girlfriend, Lisa Ann Rasberry, 27, face five aggravated robbery charges for the armed robbery of five people at a game room in the 5400 block of East Lancaster Ave. two days before the slaying.

Homicide Sgt. Cheryl Johnson said Collins and Rasberry had been riding in the backseat of a maroon 2007 Chrysler shortly before 5:30 a.m. April 22 when they suddenly began attacking the car’s three other occupants.

Two of the occupants -- Monica Soto, 24, and Alberto Gonzalez, 23 -- were shot.

The driver, Payton Neria, 24, was assaulted before managing to escape in the 3800 block of North Terry Street.

The suspects then fled on foot, Johnson said.

Soto was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital where she was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Gonzalez remained hospitalized Wednesday. Neria was treated for her injuries and released.

Johnson said police are still investigating for a motive in the attack. She said some occupants in the car had just met that night.

Collins and Rasberry were arrested Monday; Collins on a parole revocation warrant and Raspberry on an aggravated robbery warrant stemming from the game room robbery.

Sgt. Kelly Peel, a police spokesman, said investigators believe Collins and Rasberry posed as customers to enter the game room on the afternoon of April 20, then robbed five customers and employees at gunpoint. No one was injured in the robbery, he said.

Johnson said homicide investigators obtained murder warrants for the couple Tuesday after interviewing the pair. Both remained in the Mansfield jail Wednesday.

Tarrant County records show Collins has several previous convictions, including for assault, burglary, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a prohibited weapon and evading arrest.

Rasberry has previous convictions for assault and possessing a controlled substance (methamphetamine), Tarrant County records show.
