Dear Editor:The municipal election is upon us and this cycle we, in the City of Grapevine, have a number of votes to cast. We’ve got two contested council seats and an amendment to the City Charter to include a consecutive terms-limit.I support the terms-limit amendment and efforts of A Better Grapevine ( www.bettergrapevine.org). The voters should note that this is a consecutive limit; therefore, a councilperson may run for as many times as s/he wishes, as long as it is not three consecutive terms. This will allow productive council people to be around to serve without monopolizing a council-seat. See you at the polls.Dear Editor:I am endorsing Mike Lease for re-election to Place 3 of the Grapevine City Council.Mike has tirelessly served the city of Grapevine for years. In his six years as councilman, Mike has supported initiatives that improved my quality of life in Grapevine. My property taxes were lowered twice! New 65-gallon recycle bins were distributed to help keep our city green. And Mike supported the expansion of our Community Center and a new Public Safety Building.Mike and his wife, Carolyn serve the community through their support of our festivals and Nash Farms. Mike also serves in his private life as well. Mike is active in local charities like AMBUCS. He is an active member of our Grapevine Chamber and Grapevine Heritage Foundation.Mike Lease is dedicated to the people and businesses of Grapevine. And I’m proud to support him in another term on Grapevine City Council.Dear Editor:It is with pleasure that I support the re-election of Mike Lease to Place 3 of the Grapevine City Council.I have worked with councilman Lease on several boards and committees for the past six years. He has always exhibited a keen awareness of the topics discussed and strong support for preservation projects that benefit Grapevine citizens and merchants. He has certainly earned the opportunity to continue serving the citizens of Grapevine for another term.“I like Mike!”Dear Editor:I am asking the good citizens of Grapevine to vote and re-elect Mike Lease to the Grapevine City Council Place 3.I have had the privilege of serving with Mike on numerous committees through the years. He has excellent business judgment, is a dedicated volunteer and takes great pride in giving back to our community. Our present City Council is a group of excellent people who care deeply about our city. Their experience has made Grapevine the hometown we cherish, and one of the top destinations for visitors in our nation. These great visitors support our restaurants, mom-and-pop stores and businesses, and their expenditures help keep our taxes the third lowest in Tarrant County. Now is not the time to make changes on this council, and I sincerely urge our voters to re-elect Mike Lease to the Grapevine City Council Place 3.Dear Editor:It is said that a false narrative left unchallenged becomes truth to many people. So, once again, it becomes necessary to speak truth to falsehoods. On May 11, the citizens of Southlake will have the opportunity to vote for trustees of the Carroll ISD. Some supporters of two of the candidates have chosen to distort the truth, misrepresent the facts and engage in personal attacks. It is unfortunate that they would use these tactics in a dubious attempt to discredit their opponents.Southlake and our kids deserve better. Two candidates stand out as exceptionally well suited for Carroll ISD, Jim Palazzo and Sam Torolopoulos. Both are experienced leaders and managers who understand how to exercise fiscal discipline while recognizing the impact their decisions have on students, teachers, administrators and support staff. Each candidate brings a unique perspective that will benefit the overall operation of the board. They have committed to financial transparency, term limits and to balancing the budget without raising taxes. Their opponents previously voted to increase taxes. We can have both a great school system for our kids and a balanced budget.I am enthusiastically endorsing Sam Torolopoulos for Place 6 and Jim Palazzo for Place 7 in the Carroll ISD election.
