The Carroll girls soccer team had a number of players selected to this year's all district squad, including two players who received superlative honors.

Senior Sophie Groff was named the 4-5A All-District MVP, and in a symbolic passing of the torch, freshman Grace Cory was selected as the district Newcomer of the Year.

Midfielders Megan Murphy, Julia Dyche, Frankie Garrett and Tori Stephens were all selected to the first team all-district squad.

Defenders Elise Landers, Allison Savage and Taylor Valentine also earned first-team honors.

Midfielders Peyton Gruenewald and Nicole Sloan were named to the second team, while defenders Jordan Connors, Makayla Braun, Kylie McBride and Allie Luna were also selected to the second team.

Forward Devin Zavasky and midfielder Maddie Potter were selected as honorable mentions.

Faith players named to all-district squad

The Faith Christian Academy baseball team had six of its players named to the TAPPS 1-4A all-district team this season.

Jared Pruett and Brance Kahle were unanimous TAPPS 1-4A first team all-district selections, while Justin Davis earned second team honors for the Lions.

Pierson Sizelove, Zach Garcia and Garrett Lake were all selected at honorable mentions.

In addition, Pruett and Kahle were both named to the TAPPS 4A All Star team, with Pruett selected as a first team player and Kahle earning an honorable mention selection.

Pruett took part in the all-star game and helped the North All Stars defeat the South All Stars 12-1.

Ward places at national championship

Covenant Christian Academy is accustomed to excellence in the high school sports arena, but now it can add a fifth grader into the mix.

Diver Alli Ward recently competed in the Junior West National Diving Championships in San Antonio in early April, and earned a Silver medal in the 3-meter high board dive and a Bronze in the 1-meter event.

According to a news release, thanks to the strong effort, she is “now ranked nationally in those categories for her age group.”

Ward will be competing in the USA Diving Junior National Championships in Minneapolis in early August.

She is the daughter of Danna Wever and Wesley Ward, both of Colleyville.
