MANHATTAN, Kan. — TCU scored three runs in the third inning and two in the sixth, and five Horned Frogs pitchers held Kansas State to six hits in a 5-2 victory over the Wildcats that salvaged the final game of a Big 12 series Sunday.The Frogs, which lost 6-1 and 2-1 in the first two games, improved their season record to 20-23 and their league record to 8-10.TCU broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third inning.Kyle Bacak and Keaton Jones started the rally with back-to-back singles. Cody Jones knocked in the first run with a single.Boomer White walked, then Paul Hendrix plated another run with a groundout. Jantzen Witte ended the scoring with an infield RBI single.The Frogs built their advantage to 5-1 in the sixth inning with two more runs.Kevin Cron walked, then moved up a base on a wild pitch. Brett Johnson knocked him in with a triple, and Bacak followed with a sacrifice fly.Witte led TCU’s 12-hit attack by going 3 for 5.Andrew Mitchell gave up a run on four hits in 41/3 innings. Justin Scharf was the winning pitcher despite giving up a run and two hits in 11/3 innings.Travis Evans, Riley Ferrell and Alex Young combined to hold the Wildcats hitless through 31/3 innings of relief.
