MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State scored three runs in the sixth inning to break open a 1-0 game and went on to beat TCU 6-1 in a Big 12 series opener on Friday.The Wildcats (30-13, 8-5 Big 12) had 11 hits and scored one unearned run.TCU (19-22, 7-9) was held to two runs or less for the 16th time this season.Nursing a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning, Kansas State broke the game open when Tanner Witt and Shane Conlon had back-to-back singles. Jared King knocked them in with a double.The Wildcats scored two more on a triple by Conlon, a single by King and an error.TCU scored its only run in the eighth inning when Cody Jones tripled and was brought home on a sacrifice fly by Paul Hendrix.Hendrix also had two hits, as did Boomer White and Derek Odell. Jantzen Witte of TCU extended his hitting streak to seven games. Boomer Whites streak is up to five games.White had his 11th mutli-hit game of the season. Its his second consecutive mutli-hit game. Hendrix stretched his hitting streak to nine games, tying his career-best. He also had his seventh multi-hit game of the season. Kyle Bacak extend his career-long hitting streak to five games.Preston Morrison gave up six hits and three earned runs in 52/3 innings.
