FORT WORTH _ A 40-year-old Fort Worth man was arrested Wednesday night on a murder warrant, accused of fatally shooting another man last month over an argument that investigators believe was drug-related.

Sylvester Moland was being held in the Mansfield jail Thursday morning with bail set at $250,000.

Homicide Sgt. Cheryl Johnson said the investigation revealed that the victim, 27-year-old Martin Pena, has bought drugs from someone at the Butler Place apartments on March 31.

Johnson said Pena later returned to the area around 7:30 p.m. that day, where he got into an argument over drugs with Moland.

"The suspect fired a handgun several times, striking the victim," Johnson said.

Responding officers found an unresponsive Pena on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Detective Jeremy Rhoden obtained a murder warrant for Moland on April 1 after identifying him as the shooter, Johnson said.

He was arrested Wednesday evening in the 1000 block of E. Jessamine Street, she said.
