An Irving man was in jail Tuesday facing a charge of aggravated sexual assault after a 14-year-old girl gave birth to a child Saturday in a portable toilet at a soccer field, Irving police reported.

Later, the girl was taken to a hospital by her mother because she was bleeding.

"She made an outcry statement about the sexual assault, being pregnant and giving birth to the baby," police said in a news release.

Officers sent to look for the baby found it dead, according to the news release.

Mauricio Hernandez, 51, is accused of sexually assaulting the girl when she was 13. Also, the girl told investigators that Hernandez had provided her "with pills that would terminate the pregnancy," which she took.

Hernandez is a custodian for the Irving school district. Investigators don't believe he had sexual contact with any other children.

School officials issued a statement Tuesday that Hernandez had been placed on administrative leave and that they were cooperating with police in the investigation.

Other charges might be filed, police said.
