FORT WORTH _ A 7-year-old boy pulled unconscious from an apartment complex swimming pool Sunday died Tuesday, fire officials said.

Donald Wright was pronounced dead at 7:13 a.m. at Cook Children's Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since the incident at the Falcon Ridge Apartment complex in east Fort Worth.

A cause and manner of death were still pending Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were told that Donald and his 7-year-old twin brother were playing outside their apartment late Sunday afternoon when Donald managed to get into the locked, fenced swimming pool area and ended up in the water.

"A resident of the complex saw him floating in the water and pulled him from the pool," officials said in a press release issued Tuesday.

Firefighters performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation on the boy until MedStar paramedics took over and transported the child to the hospital, where he was reportedly in critical but stable condition.
