As we Americans reel from Sandy Hook, Boston, the small Texas town of West and the betrayal by the U.S. Senate of 90 percent of those who revere our democracy regarding gun safety, it behooves us to reflect upon the spirit of Londoners during World War II.

They adopted a slogan that enabled them to bear up under the devastating, unceasing bombardment of their great city by the enemy.

Let us revive their spunk from across the years: "Keep Calm and Carry On."

Like them, we shall recover.
