The Northwest school district on April 18 launched a new paperless enrollment process for the 2013-14 school year. Northwest’s Enrollment Online, an online registration and information verification process, is now in use for students new to the district.

This includes students who will be in kindergarten in August.

"With the new online enrollment system, NISD is making the back-to-school registration process easier for families," said Sharla Stockard, Northwest’s data services coordinator. "This means all of the forms required to update and verify information for students will all be available online, and the paper forms will no longer be sent home with students on the first day of school."

Returning student registration begins Aug. 1 and replaces the back-to-school packets issued on the first day of school. To access the online verification feature, parents of students currently enrolled in the district must have a Home Access Center account. In addition to this new feature, a HAC account provides Northwest parents access to their child’s grades, schedule, progress report, attendance, report cards, classwork and test scores.

Access to a HAC account requires an Internet connection and a confidential username and password issued to the parent by the school. Parents with students currently enrolled in the district can expect an email confirming login and password information by the end of the school year. The back-to-school online registration process deadline is Aug. 26.

Parents can access Enrollment Online by going to www.nisdtx.org and selecting Parents in the menu bar. They can then click Parent Resources and then select Enrollment Online on the left-hand side of the page.

"We are excited to partner with our parents during the launch of online enrollment," Stockard said. "We are committed to establishing trust and transparency in our communication methods and believe this new technology tool will provide flexibility for our families."

The first day of school for the 2013-14 school year is Aug. 27. Go to www.nisdtx.org/backtoschool for a listing of start times, school supplies, netbook information and more.
