Martin and Bowie reached the bi-district round of the playoffs out of District 3-5A, with Martin tying with Weatherford for the district championship but dropping to second seeding after losing to the Lady Roos 7-6 last Friday in a tiebreaker.

Bowie will enter the postseason as the third seed out of district.

The Lady Warriors compiled a 13-1 district record and saw Sabrina Pecina put together one of the best hitting seasons among North Texas softball players with a .564 batting average, 11 doubles and 44 RBI. Krista Rude batted .532 with 21 RBI as another area leader. Pitching to contact, Kylie Dobbins went 17-2 with a 2.91 ERA.

The Lady Vols went 9-5 in district play and feature slugging sisters Maddie and Maggie Withee, now in their senior season and each of whom batted higher than .500.

Martin looks likely to draw Southlake Carroll in bi-district, while Bowie could face Keller.

Girls soccer

For the first time in the program's history, all 11 seniors on the Martin girls soccer team earned Academic All-State honors.

The team advanced to the regional quarterfinals this season, head coach Ruth Knight's 30th.

The Lady Warriors seniors are goalkeeper Kaitlyn Wells, midfielder/forward Kelsey Hale, forward/mid Kristi Gonzales, forward Lauren Prater, mid/forward Katie Dixon, mid/defender Shannon Graham, mid Natalie Newman, forward/mid Erin Ward, defender Leah Haugh, defender Ashley Phillips and forward/mid Emily Griffin.
