The City of Weatherford Main Street Program is proud to once again introduce the Weatherford Blooms Home and Garden Fest in Historic Downtown Weatherford.This year’s event takes place from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday. All four quadrants of the Square will be “blooming” with home and garden vendors, antique tractors, entertainment, food and fun. This will be the third consecutive year this free, family-friendly event will be held downtown.“We are excited to announce a couple new elements that have been added to this year’s event,” said Kim Thieme, Main Street and Special Event Manager. “Parker County has graciously offered to host tours of the Historic Parker County Courthouse. This is an exciting partnership and we are so appreciative that the county has provided this component as an addition to Weatherford Blooms.”Courthouse tours will be offered at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and are free to the public. Tours will start on the southeast quadrant of the Square.Another new feature will be the Arbor Day booth. As the City of Weatherford has achieved 22 years of membership in the Texas Arbor Day Foundation, also known as Tree City USA, Parks and Recreation has committed to giving Texas Red Oak sapling trees away to the first 200 City of Weatherford residents who visit the booth.As always, the entertainment tent at Weatherford Blooms will include gardening presentations, in addition to local dancers and singers gracing the stage throughout the day. The entertainment can be found in the southwest quadrant of the Square and the schedule is as follows:• 9:15 - 10:45 a.m. Dr. Keith Roland, Horticulturist- “Basic Gardening Tips and Tools”• 10:45 - 11:30 a.m. Breckenridge Klassy Kloggers• 11:30 a.m. - Noon Native Plant Society, Sam Kieschnick- “Rare Plant Only Found in Weatherford!”• Noon - 1 p.m. Marty Allen Nelson, Solo Classic Rock Performer• 1 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. Sunshine Emery and Students, Local Guitar Expert and Students• 2:15 p.m. - 3 p.m. Tay Burchette, Local Teenage Solo GuitaristThe highly-anticipated Antique Tractor Display will again be showcased and will provide a local flare and educational opportunity for the farming enthusiast. Event-goers are encouraged to participate in the People’s Choice Contest to vote on their favorite tractor displayed at the event.“In addition to the attractions on the Square, we are also proud to help celebrate Weatherford College Homecoming festivities, which will be held on the same day,” Thieme explains.
