Josh Akognon: He only played nine minutes in three games. A late-season pickup who may need some time in the D-League.Rodrigue Beaubois: He averaged just 12.2 minutes. Missed 37 games, mostly because of injuries. Poor guy just can’t stay healthy. Elton Brand: Averaged 7.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. The team’s most physical and most aggressive player. Vince Carter: Averaged 13.4 points and made career-high tying 162 3-pointers. Would have contended for the Sixth Man Award had the Mavs made the playoffs. Darren Collison: He averaged 12 points and 5.1 assists. He really, really wants to be a starter again, and probably deserves that chance. Jared Cunningham: Averaged just 3.3 minutes in eight games. Was either injured or in the D-League most of the season. Jae Crowder: Averaged 5.0 points in 17.3 minutes per game. The former Big East Player of the Year needs a post-up game and a better perimeter game. Bernard James: He averaged 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 9.9 minutes . A very raw player who must develop some low-post moves. Mike James: Started 23 of the 45 games he played. For age 37 and for a late arrival, he acquitted himself well this year. Chris Kaman: Averaged 10.5 points and 5.6 rebounds. The Mavs need to see more games like the 26 points and 11 rebounds he had against Portland. Shawn Marion: Averaged a team-high 7.8 rebounds. Team’s best all-around player, and certainly its best defender. O.J. Mayo: Averaged 15.3 points and shot 40.7 percent on 3s. Got to protect the ball better. Couldn’t find the basket in the final month. Anthony Morrow: Put up 2.3 points in just 4.8 minutes per game. Another late arrival who could contribute more with a training camp. Dirk Nowitzki: Team highs of 17.3 points and 41.4 percent from downtown. Staying healthy is his biggest issue. Turns 35 in June. Brandan Wright: Averaged 8.5 points and 1.19 blocks. The closest thing to a rim protector the Mavs have. Needs to put on about 30 pounds.
