7 tonight, Scotttrade Center, St. Louis

TV: FSSW Radio: KTCK/1310 AM

Records: Stars 21-18-3, 45 points; Blues 24-16-2, 50 pts.

About the Stars: With Thursday’s 5-1 victory over Vancouver, Dallas moved into a tie with Detroit for ninth place in the Western Conference, trailing Columbus for the eighth and final playoff spot by two points. The Stars have five games remaining, including one against the Blue Jackets in Dallas on April 25 and the finale against Detroit at home on April 27.

About the Blues:

St. Louis has won eight of 10 but has not scored more than two goals in any of its last seven games, including Thursday’s 2-1 win over Phoenix. The Blues have relied on the stellar play of goalie Brian Elliott, who is 7-1 in his last seven games with only eight goals allowed, including three consecutive road shutouts in which St. Louis scored four total goals. ... The Blues have some faces familiar to Stars followers. Ken Hitchcock, who coached his 600th career victory on Tuesday, spent parts of seven seasons coaching Dallas, including their 1999 Stanley Cup season. General manager Doug Armstrong spent 17 years with the Stars, and Sergi Zubov, who played 12 seasons in Dallas, is a hockey operations consultant.
