A helping backhand

Tennis anyone? And I mean anyone!

It is time for the 2013 Mid-Cities SOS (Supporters of SafeHaven) Tennis Benefit. Over the past 21 years, this event has been known as the ace of tennis tournaments in our community. This year, they have added a whole new aspect.

The tournament begins May 14 with an 8:15 a.m. warm-up for levels 3.0B and 3.0A. It continues on May 15 for levels 4.0B and 4.0A+. It concludes May 16 with levels 3.5B and 3.5A at the Southlake Tennis Center at 450 W. Southlake Blvd. The entry fee is $50 per player, which includes a breakfast snack and lunch.

Plus, there will be a silent auction with items that can be won each day, such as tennis lessons, and there will be items that can be bid on for all three days of the tournament, such as a Bear Creek Wine and Cheese Party, a set of Kershaw cutlery knives and a package that includes a Spa On the Square gift card, hotel stay and restaurant gift card. Remember, all this fun for just $50!

New is the ultra-simple registration. Go to, then click on “2013 SOS Tennis Benefit” located under the “featured news” section (it is in the middle of the page). That will take you to information about the tournament where the phrase “click here to sign up” is located. Click there and you have the grand slam of information and registration.
