The Weatherford High School Art Department scored again at the State UIL VASE art competition recently. VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) is sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association and was held at Bryan High School in Bryan.

More than 24,270 art pieces were judged statewide at the regional events with 1,500 advancing to the state level. Artworks were judged a second time and only 633 pieces were awarded a state medal and 150 of these entries were awarded the coveted Gold Seal Award. These 150 pieces will travel the state for a year promoting art in public schools.

WHS had five students advance to the state level with six artworks and came home with four state medals. Bailey Bakouris, Lauren Bragg, Sierra Landureth, Andi Bakken and Clare Larvin are all students of teacher Diane Bolinger.
