ARLINGTON — UT Arlington scored four runs in the third inning and added two in the fourth and seventh to take a 9-7 come-from-behind victory over San Jose State and complete a sweep of the Spartans in Western Athletic Conference baseball on Sunday.San Jose state had taken a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The Mavericks (20-15, 9-3 WAC) scored a run in the second and rallied for four in the third to tie it 5-5.The Mavericks then had two-run innings and in the fourth and seventh before hanging on in the ninth.Ryan Walker, Matt Shortall, Justin Copeland and John Twichell each had three hits as the Mavericks had 16 for the day. Twichell knocked in four runs. Brandon Lawrence had two hits and two RBIs.Walker began the Mavericks’ four-run third inning with a triple. Shortall knocked him in with a double. Copeland singled, putting runners on first and third.Greg McCall walked, loading the bases.Brandon Lawrence knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Another walk loaded the bases again and Twichell hit a two-run single.McCall and Lawrence and run-scoring singles in the fourth. In the seventh, Twichell knocked in a run with a triple and Walker knocked him in with a single.
