Texas Tech running back Eric Stephens knows the Dallas Cowboys will be looking hard at his position in the upcoming NFL Draft. With starter DeMarco Murray missing time in each of the first two seasons because of injuries, the Cowboys are in search of a capable backup and potential starter at running back.Stephens was one of five running backs to participate in the Dallas Day workouts Wednesday and is hopeful he made a good enough impression to warrant a draft-day homecoming.Stephens played high school football at Mansfield Timberview and is from a family of Cowboys fans.“It would definitely be a dream to come to Dallas,” Stephens said. “I would be happy anywhere, but to come to a team I grew up watching as a kid would be a dream come true. My whole family are Cowboys fans. I know their situation. I’m keeping my hopes up.”Stephens admits having a little anxiety about the draft and what’s going to happen because of the potential life-changing implications. But Stephens says he is ready for the NFL and credits his experience at Texas Tech for developing his skills as a runner, receiver and pass protector that should serve him well at the next level.
