Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy was dead wrong when he called Wayne LaPierre of the National Rifle Association a circus clown.

Clowns promote fun, not a product that kills 30,000 Americans annually and is capable of killing scores of theatergoers and schoolchildren in a matter of minutes.

I can't imagine any clown that would find it funny that felons, gun traffickers and the mentally ill can legally buy unlimited quantities of assault weapons with high-capacity magazines at gun shows.

Real clowns would never think gun violence was a laughing matter.
