The subjects of Clif Bosler's "romance" article, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, murdered at least nine law enforcement officers in four states during their 1930s crime spree. (See: "Capturing Bonnie & Clyde," Saturday)

Among the many Clyde robbed and/or killed included Texas Highway Patrolmen Holloway David "H.D." Murphy and Edward Bryan Wheeler in Tarrant County. A marker commemorates the site of the patrolmen's supreme sacrifice near Dove Road and Texas 114 in Southlake.

Bosler's article was published about a week following the murder of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, and two months following the murder of Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse.

Are we to anticipate future articles glamorizing their killers in future issues of the Star-Telegram?
