Anna Tinsley's article failed to convey that not all Meals on Wheels programs receive federal funds. Metroport Meals on Wheels is such a program and is not impacted by sequestration or any other federal budget cuts. MMOW participants and their families can be assured that meals will continue without interruption.

From MMOW's origin in 1980, its board has remained committed to providing services built on community support instead of state and federal programs. This has enabled MMOW to provide responsive, people-centered services regardless of a participant's age or financial circumstances and without the encumbrance of waiting lists.

MMOW is blessed with tremendous support from the communities it serves in Northeast Tarrant, south Denton and south Wise counties. The community coming together makes it possible for MMOW to meet the needs of participants and provide the support that enables them to live in the home of their choice.
