For the second year, supporters of the Weatherford Chapter of Future Farmers of America will hold a fundraiser at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Clubhouse on Friday. The money raised at the Boots and Suits event will be used to provide scholarships to youth in the FFA organization.David Chilcutt, who helped organize the event, said this year’s goal is to sell 200 of the $100 tickets. Each ticket includes an entrance into a reverse raffle and two meal tickets.“We’re well on our way,” Chilcutt said of the tickets already sold. The tickets will remain on sale even at the door until they are all sold. The numbers of tickets sold will determine how large the scholarships will be. The winners of the five applicants will be announced at the event.Chilcutt said there are about 550 youth taking agricultural classes in Weatherford and about 200 of them are in FFA. He said he wants to provide those youth with scholarship opportunities just as students in band or athletics have available to them.“There are a lot of kids there that we can help,” Chilcutt said.Chilcutt said they selected the reverse raffle event because it was different from other fundraisers such as car washes. The grand prize is $5,000, and instead of the prizes going to the first ticket drawn, it will go to the last.Other prizes will include items such as Rangers tickets or Mavericks memorabilia, among others, were provided by local businesses supporting the event. Live and silent auctions will be held. The total worth of the prizes will total about $8,000. Some raffle tickets can even be used for a place in the final 10 tickets or for more tickets altogether. The event will include entertainment from the Texas Backroads Band and dinner catered by Mesquite Pit.The doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
