Josh Hamilton believes Rangers fans crossed the line with a few of their chants directed at him during Friday’s home opener. Hamilton, who started in right field for the Angels, was showered with chants of “Sherlock’s” and “Crack Head.”

Hamilton is known for his well-documented struggles against alcohol and drug addiction, and had a public relapse at a Dallas-area bar, Sherlock's, before spring training last year.

“Anytime somebody brings up somebody’s mistakes and throws it in their face, that’s always crossing the line,” Hamilton said. “Even in my most high time, if I’d go to the game or something, I just never had it in me to do that to somebody.

“So it always makes you wonder and think, 'What are people thinking? Like, are they thinking? Are they not thinking? Do they have morals? Do they have values?'”

Hamilton said his wife and four daughters were treated “OK” in the stands, although the Angels had security posted by them for precautionary reasons.

"Just guys being ugly, inappropriate to my wife," Hamilton said. "It was a great lesson for my kids to understand how people can be. It was a wonderful lesson. They understand. They get it. They understand they put their trust and faith in God, not man, period."
