The Texas Wesleyan Lady Rams enter their final month of play with a tough Red River Athletic Conference schedule ahead of them.Beginning with a three-game series against SW Assemblies of God starting at 7 p.m. Friday, the Lady Rams (13-17, 6-6) conclude with series against three of the top five teams in the RRAC.“This matchup is very important to us,” Texas Wesleyan coach Shannon Gower said. “In every series our intention is to sweep or win the series. We are strictly in conference play now and we are trying to get a better seed into the tournament.”SW Assemblies of God has dropped four in a row. The Lady Rams have won their last three.“Throughout the course of the year we have had spurts of seeing the team come together,” Gower said. “We finally figured it out and learned what we need to be successful as a whole. We need to trust each other and play to our capabilities.”The Lady Lions will be behind one of the conference’s leading pitchers. Probable Game 1 starter for Wesleyan is Alexis Beltran. Beltran is third in the RRAC with a 2.24 ERA and also leads the team in batting average with a .379 average. Her five home runs are tied for first on the team.The Lady Rams and Lions begin a series opening doubleheader today at 5 p.m. with an anticipated first pitch for game two at 7 p.m. The series concludes at 7 p.m. Monday.TexAnns host Eastern New MexicoThe Tarleton State TexAnns softball team has won four of its last six games heading into its bout with Eastern New Mexico beginning today.The TexAnns (19-14, 7-4) sit in fourth place and are just two games behind third place Angelo State. To move up, Tarleton will have to improve on its .267 team batting average, which is last in the Lone Star Conference. Following the series with Eastern New Mexico, Tarleton hosts the Rambelles of Angelo State and then Midwestern State before hosting conference leader Texas Women’s University on April 16.
