MOLINE, Ill. — Forward Collin Mulvey scored the first goal of his professional career, and the Fort Worth Brahmas defeated the Quad City Mallards 3-2 in overtime Wednesday night to take a 3-0 lead in the teams’ best-of-seven CHL playoff series.Fort Worth won in overtime for the second time in the series.Mulvey, who joined the Brahmas after an amateur tryout late last month, was in just his third game with the team. He scored the game-winner 10 1/2 minutes into OT, rebounding a shot by Ross Rouleau and scoring from the point.In regulation, the Brahmas scored on the power play and added a short-handed goal. Calin Wild’s gave Fort Worth a 1-0 lead in the first period with a steal in the Quad City zone before beating Mallards goalie John Murry on a slap shot.Eric Tallent’s power-play goal in the third period gave the Brahmas a 2-1 lead. Shawn Szydlowski fed Tallent on the score.Brahmas goalie Kristofer Westblom, who is 3-0 in the series, stopped 32 of 34 Quad City shots. The Mallards’ Murray, who had 31 saves on 34 Fort Worth shots, lost for the second time in the series.Fort Worth can close out Quad City on Friday night on the road in Game 4.
