Students of Mansfield piano teachers Harriet Motter and Mina Kramer performed at the 2013 National Junior Federated Music Festival of Texas, District No. 2-1, held Feb. 23 in Fort Worth.Representing 35 teachers in the Arlington/Fort Worth and mid-cities area were more than 400 students judged simultaneously by 14 piano, strings and voice teachers and music professionals. Harriet Motter of Mansfield served on the 2013 judging panel.Of the 120 students receiving superior-plus ratings were Motter’s students: Kyra Ullman, a fourth-grader at Martha Reid Elementary School and daughter of Sunghee and Pete Ullman, and William Meshack, an eighth-grader at St. Paul’s Academy and son of Vanessa and Bill Meshack.Kramer’s students receiving superior-plus ratings in the festival were: Christina Sun, a third-grader at Willie Brown Elementary and daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Dong X Sun; Jordan Bell, an eighth-grader at Worley Junior High School and child of Steven and Tricia Bell; Ella Tran, a second-grader at West Elementary in Grand Prairie and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duc Tran; and Brianna Garcia, a 10th-grader at Los Fresnos High and daughter of Roy and Stephanie Garcia.The students performed honors recitals held in the auditorium of Cowden Hall at Southwestern Baptist Seminary where the festival was held.The event leads participants to a gold cup program sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs. Ratings earn points– a superior rating earns five points – and eligibility for the first gold cup requires 15 points. Subsequent larger cups require more. Emma Tung daughter of Edith and Kerr Tung, a fourtth-grade student at Willie Brown Elementary, will receive a National Federation of Music Clubs 1st gold cup; William Meshack will receive a 2nd gold cup requiring 30 points. Brianna Garcia will receive a 4th Year Gold Cup in Solo Piano and a 3rd Year Gold Cup in Hymn Playing.
