RUSTON, La. — The UT Arlington baseball team used a two-run single from catcher Greg McCall in the top of the 14th inning to beat Louisiana Tech 3-1 Saturday at J.C. Love Field.The Mavericks (14-12, 4-1 Western Athletic Conference) have won four straight conference games and sit tied for first in the WAC. It was also the fifth straight win over Louisiana Tech (11-18, 1-4) this season, including a three-game non-conference series to start the season.Trailing 1-0 after six innings, the Mavericks tied the score in the seventh when McCall, who drove in three runs in Friday’s 7-1 win, hit a two-out single that scored J.M. Twichell.In the first extra-inning game of the season for both teams, pitching and defense took over. The teams combined to use 10 pitchers and leave 29 runners on base.As the game approached the four-hour mark, UTA used two singles and a walk to load the bases with one out in the 14th. McCall, a junior who went 3 for 6 with three RBI, hit a 2-0 pitch from Bulldogs reliever Dakota Doss to left field, scoring Brandon Lawrence and Jake Pinchback.
