National Hispanic Recognition ScholarsThe Keller school district has 19 students who have been named National Hispanic Recognition Scholars for their performance on the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Go to http://www.nisdtx.org for registration information. Good characterKay Granger Elementary School is one of 35 finalists across the nation vying for the title of National School of Character. The Character Education Partnership named 28 public schools, two charter schools and five school districts National Finalists. From the 30 schools, only two are Texas elementary schools. This spring, Granger Elementary will undergo an intensive screening process that includes site visits and an analysis of the character-related efforts on academics, student behavior and campus culture. The 2013 National Schools of Character will be announced in May. Granger was named a State School of Character in 2012 and O.A. Peterson Elementary School was named a State School of Character in 2013. Northwest’s Day OffMarch 29 has been designated a bad weather day. Since school has not been canceled due to inclement weather, March 29 is a student holiday. Classes resume April 1.
