For the first time in the past few years, both the Weatherford ISD and Weatherford College Boards of Trustees will be holding elections as several places have opposition.The sole place which isn’t contested is at WC, where incumbent Jean Bryan is not seeking re-election. Mac Smith, who filed for her seat, will replace Bryan on the board.Place 2 at the college is currently held by Elaine Carter but she will be opposed by Don Allen and Dale Fleeger.For Weatherford ISD, three places are up for renewal and all incumbents have filed for re-election. In addition, four others have joined the race.Place 3, currently held by Ashley Conlon, will be a three-way race between Conlon, Philip Newkirk and Randy Hynes.Board secretary Gail Wirtanen in Place 4 is being challenged by Jeromy Puckett and board president Charlie Martinez will go head-to-head with Dr. Joshua Tarbay.Also on the ballot are bond elections for Brock ISD and Weatherford ISD.Brock‘s bond is a $3.5 million proposition that will go toward the building of a baseball/softball field house as well as a football stadium and field house.The Weatherford ISD bond is $107.32 million and will be used to address safety and security issues, as well as overcrowding.Early voting begins April 29 and continues through May 7. Election Day is May 11.
