It may not exactly feel like it, but spring is officially here and that means it is fashion show time! The Colleyville Woman’s Club’s 28th annual fashion show “Lunch with the Girlz” is just around the corner. This year, two new amazing specialty stores are providing the fashions. This year’s event will feature fashions from Tootsies and Betty Reiter, two of Dallas’s most acclaimed shopping destinations for those in vogue. It is slated for 9:30 a.m. April 12 at the Hurst Conference Center at 1601 Campus Drive in Hurst. The children’s section of the show (always a favorite amongst attendees) will feature clothing and accessories from returning retailer KidBiz, which year after year has brought the audience to its feet in applause. The best part for me is that this is a Jan Strimple production. And in my book, it just doesn’t get any better than that!If those reasons aren’t enough to get your credit card out and grab your seat, this annual event has a history of offering some of the most amazing trips, jewelry, home accessories and spa treatments — just to name a few items — that any silent, live and big board auction has ever seen.Still questioning? Here’s something to tempt your shopping taste buds: back by popular demand is the incredible opportunity to walk the red carpet for you and three friends at the Emmys and an escorted wine tasting tour of Napa Valley, along with trips to New York and San Francisco. It is simply a smorgasbord of excitement.Tickets begin at $85 per person and can be purchased by going to the Colleyville Woman’s Club Fashion Show website, www.cwcfashionshow.com, where additional information can be found.Triple Crown AffairDon’t forget it is almost “play the ponies” time! The Arts Council Northeast is hosting its second-annual Triple Crown Affair on May 4 at Lone Star Park, 1000 Lone Star Parkway in Grand Prairie, in the Alysheba Ballroom, overlooking the track. I have heard there are only a few tables left.Track time for this event is 12:30 p.m. and it ends at 5:30 p.m. Considering the actual Kentucky Derby race is at 5:20 p.m., that works out perfectly for you to place your bet and then head home with all that money you will have won!Tickets are $150 per person, which includes cocktails. That includes all those specialty drinks such as mint juleps, Belmont breezes and black-eyed susans, so come thirsty. To hold your spot at this party, call Lee Koch at 817-283-3406 or go to the ARTS Council Northeast website at www.artscouncilnortheast.org, then click on the word “details” located under the Triple Crown logo. That will take you to the page where you can click on the “ticket order form” phrase near the bottom.
