GRAPEVINE — Chocolate lovers will have plenty to choose from at the 9th annual ChocolateFest.This year’s two-day festival kicks off April 5 with An Evening of Chocolate and Wine at Delaney Vineyards, 2000 Champagne Blvd.From 7–10 p.m., guests can sample premium treats from chocolate makers in the Metroplex, sip wine and balance out the chocolate with hors d’oeuvres.Tickets for the kickoff event are $50 and advance purchase is required. Guests must be at least 21 years old.Admission includes wine and chocolate tastings, live music, a souvenir wine glass and participation in a silent auction.Other festival events include a showing of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” at 7:30 p.m. April 5 at Grapevine’s historic Palace Theatre. Movie admission costs is $5 and popcorn costs $1. People who purchase a large bucket of popcorn have a chance to find the Golden Ticket.The Golden Ticket winner receives four Palace Theatre movie tickets, backstage tour of the Palace Arts Center, Willy Wonka chocolates, a DVD of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” and four tickets to A Day of Chocolate and Art.On April 6, the highlight is A Day of Chocolate and Art at Grapevine’s Palace Arts Center. The day features cooking demonstrations, art exhibits and sales. Sessions begin on the half-hour from 10:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Each adult guest will select 10 samples and each guest under the age of seven will select five samples.Children will have the opportunity to decorate a piece of chocolate with edible paints. The activity is free to all children with a paid admission and they will get to take their decorated chocolate home as a bonus .Tickets are sold in 30-minute increments as to allow for ease of traffic flow. The 30-minute sessions provide ample time to select chocolates and enjoy a few as well as take some home. The 30-minute increments also allow for samples to be available for all attendees throughout the day. Advance tickets can be purchased at www.chocolatefestgrapevine.org. Tickets for the 2 p.m. slot are only available at the event on April 6.Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door, $15 for adults and $5 for children ages seven and under. Live music will be provided and guests can participate in the People’s Choice Contests. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Travelers Aid at D/FW Airport.
