Homicide victim in Arlington was shot in the head and chest

A man shot to death Thursday at an Arlington residence suffered wounds to his head and chest, according to a ruling by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

The victim has been identified as Marquis Johnson, 28. Johnson was found dead Thursday night in the 4700 block of Shadyway Drive in Arlington. His death was ruled a homicide.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call about 11 p.m. Thursday, police said. They arrived to find a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

A vehicle seen leaving the residence was followed and stopped at Interstate 20 and Matlock Road, police said. A man inside the vehicle had a gunshot wound to the leg. A female occupant had a cut on her head, police said.

The man and woman are believed to be residents of the home where the shooting occurred, police said. They were arrested for outstanding warrants.

Detectives are talking to witnesses to determine whether robbery was a possible motive, police said.
