Hurst police are investigating the homicide of a 3-year-old girl found Friday in her bedroom in the 800 block of Cullum Court off of Precinct Line Road north of Texas 10.

Anastasia Williams died at 3:23 p.m. from a laceration of the liver due to blunt trauma to the abdomen caused by an assault, according to the medical examiner's website, which termed her death a homicide.

Saturday evening Hurst Assistant Police Chief Richard Winstanley said nobody has been arrested in the case.

"Investigators worked pretty late into the night last night ... nothing would lead to them making an arrest at this time," Winstanley said. "So we are still continuing the investigation."

Family members declined to answer questions. But a man at the apartment, who did not identify himself, said, "The police are not telling us anything ... I can't even make funeral arrangements for my baby girl."

A report from WFAA.com said Friday the otherwise quiet neighborhood grew frantic when a man ran out of his apartment about 3:30 p.m.

"He knocked on my next door neighbor's door, and that's when I heard the noise," Neighbor Tammy Schofield said.

"All he said is, 'My baby is not breathing! My baby is not breathing!'"
