GRAPEVINE -- A 25-year-old former teacher at Colleyville Heritage High School was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of having an improper relationship with a 16-year-old male student.

Cody Ray Dickson of Bedford was arrested by Grapevine police on a suspicion on of improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony, and online solicitation of minor, a third-degree felony. His bail was set at $10,000 for the improper relationship charge and $5,000 for the online solicitation charge.

The Grapevine-Colleyville school district placed Dickson on leave last Friday and he resigned from the district on Wednesday, officials said.

Police said Dickson had intentionally solicited a 16-year-old student and that there had been an exchange of text messages of a sexual nature and "inappropriate nude images" between the two.

Principal Joe Harrington alerted choir parents about the case in a letter dated Sunday.

"While state and federal privacy laws prevent district personnel from publicly discussing details about these allegations or the persons involved, please be assured that we are cooperating fully with the police," Harrington said in last Sunday's letter.

Another letter from Harrington was sent home to parents on Wednesday, explaining that Dickson had been arrested and resigned.

Dickson had been both a music teacher and assistant choir director at Colleyville Heritage since 2009, the school district said.
