Covenant boys battle their way to state title

The CCC boys soccer team advanced to the final four round of the state tournament earlier this month with a 5-1 victory over Bullard Brook Hill.

According to a news release, “After 60 minutes of scoreless soccer, CCA opened the scoring with a beautiful goal by Lee Mills, with the assist by Caleb O’Dell. A couple minutes later, Jacob Garcia found the far post for a 2-0 lead and they never looked back. Goals by Brooks Friedman, Caleb O’Dell and Mark Hill finished up the scoring for CCA.”

The Cougars improved to 17-4-1 with the victory and extended their win streak to 12 games.

Covenant then squared off with Houston St. Thomas Episcopal and cruised to a 4-0 victory en route to a state championship appearance.

The Cougars then went on to defeat Houston Cypress Christian in state championship game, also by a score of 4-0, to bring the state title home to Colleyville.

Striker Brooks William Friedman, midfielders Caleb Odell, Jacob Alexander Garcia, defenders Elliot Wendell and Jonathan Hudson and keeper Garrett Krebs were all named to the all-tournament squad.

Covenant girls Go 1-1 in the postseason

The Colleyville Covenant Christian girls soccer team defeated Covenant School 2-0 to open the playoffs on March 5, but came up short against Bullard Brook Hill in the second round, losing 3-0.

Covenant wrapped up the season with a 13-7-2 record and 10-1 mark in district competition for the season as a whole.

Faith comes up short against TCA

The Faith Christian baseball team came up on the short end against Trinity Christian-Addison on Saturday, losing 4-1 in the contest.

Zach Postema doubled in the game for Grapevine Faith Christian.

Lady Dragons have two named to all-region squad

The Carroll girls basketball team had two players named to this year's all-region team.

Senior guard Kami Mickens and sophomore point guard Kennedy Leonard were both named to the team.
