Regarding "The Shopping Bag Freedom Act" by state Rep. Drew Springer, R-Muenster, to block plastic-bag bans in Texas cities: Is he serious? (See: "Are the plastic bag's days numbered?" Saturday)

Does he own stock in an oil company, so he wants people to use the store plastic bags that fill gullies along our highways, clog streams and fill up our landfills? Or is this just another frivolous means of getting attention for himself and wasting everyone's time?

We even get 5 cents for each canvas bag that we use every time we buy groceries. The bags eventually pay for themselves. I can't believe anyone who cares at all for our environment would consciously waste the time of the House when so many more problems need to be solved.
