Matt Harrison can’t picture a better college basketball venue than Cameron Indoor Stadium.
He is an avid Duke fan and attends at least one or two games at the famed arena every offseason. In November, he saw his Blue Devils down Ohio State 73-68.“I’ve been to Cameron Indoor and the Dean Dome, and I just don’t think you can match Cameron’s atmosphere,” Harrison said. “How loud it is for being such a small arena, and I’ve never seen students get so involved in the game. Anywhere you sit, you’re involved in the game, and there’s not a bad seat in the house.”Duke is the No. 2 seed in the Midwest for this year’s NCAA Tournament and, in honor of March Madness, Harrison revealed his top five Blue Devils. F Grant Hill (1990-94): “When he was in college, he could do anything he wanted. He could jump out of the gym, score at will. I still remember some of the dunks he had, and they were awesome.” PG Bobby Hurley (1989-93): “One of the best point guards in college basketball at the time he was there. I just liked how he opened up the court and put guys in scoring position.” F-C Christian Laettner (1988-92): “Probably one of the best all-around players Duke has had. It didn’t work out in the NBA, but he was a fun player to watch in college. And he made the shot against Kentucky [in the 1992 East Regional Finals that sent Duke to the Final Four and eventual championship]. That was awesome.” SG J.J. Redick (2002-06): “The guy could shoot and make it from half-court if he wanted to. Anywhere he was on the court, it would seem like he’d make it. Then he’d make 99 out of a 100 free throws. You could count on him at the line.” PG Jay Williams (1999-2002): “He was fast as heck. He was a guy who could knock down a jump shot or take it to the hole and dunk on you.”Number4 Pitchers with 16 wins and 200 strikeouts in their rookie season: Yu Darvish, Mark Langston, Dwight Gooden and Herb Score. He said it“It’s funny because I had to run for a triple on it. It had a 1 percent chance of getting over the top of that thing.” — Outfielder Jim Adduci on his triple that is a home run in most parks but came back into play about halfway up the 40-foot high batter’s eye at Peoria Sports Complex on Sunday.Injury reportRHP Yu Darvish (neck stiffness): Scratched from Monday’s start against Kansas City.
