Foundation scholarshipsThe Keller ISD Education Foundation will award $500 scholarships to 12 graduating Keller district seniors. Durham contest winnersThree Bear Creek Intermediate students won top honors in the School Bus Safety Week Art Contest sponsored by Durham School Services, the district’s bus transportation provider.Durham employees judged 64 entries from intermediate school students across the district. Good characterKay Granger Elementary School is one of 35 finalists across the nation competing for the title of National School of Character.The Character Education Partnership named 28 public schools, two charter schools and five school districts National Finalists. From the 30 schools, only two are Texas elementary schools.This spring, Granger Elementary will undergo an intensive screening process that includes site visits and an analysis of the character-related efforts on academics, student behavior and campus culture.The 2013 National Schools of Character will be announced in May. Granger was named a State School of Character in 2012 and O.A. Peterson Elementary School was named a State School of Character in 2013. Prekindergarten qualifyingNorthwest offers prekindergarten (PreK) classes for qualifying four-year-olds and it’s now time to begin the prequalification process.To adequately plan for the 2013-2014 school year, Northwest school district would like to prequalify as many four-year-olds as possible this spring.Prequalification Packets are available at all district elementary schools and can be picked up now through March 25. Beginning April 18, the district will launch Enrollment Online for students new to the district.
