Baylor received a No. 2 seed and Kentucky, last season’s national champion, and Alabama are two of the No. 1 seeds in the National Invitation Tournament field announced Sunday night.

The Bears, who make their first NIT appearance since 2009, will host No. 7 seed Long Beach State at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferrell Center.

The Bears are 4-4 all-time in the NIT, and with a win against Long Beach State, would advance to face the winner of No. 3 Arizona State vs. No. 6 Detroit.

The Wildcats (21-11) and Crimson Tide (21-12) are joined as No. 1 seeds by Southern Mississippi and Virginia.

Longhorns in CBI

The University of Houston will host the Texas Longhorns in the College Basketball Invitational on Wednesday night at Hofheinz Pavilion, according to reports by the Houston Chronicle. Tip-off between the former Southwest Conference rivals has not yet been finalized.

The Cougars are making their first postseason appearance since making the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

The Longhorns failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.

Virginia (21-11), which was blown out by North Carolina State in the ACC tournament quarterfinals, hosts Norfolk State on Tuesday.
