Allen forward Darryl Bootland scored 21 seconds into overtime to lead the Americans to a 4-3 victory Saturday night against the Brahmas in Fort Worth’s final home game of the regular season.

The Brahmas, who played in front a sellout crowd of 2,531 at NYTEX Sports Centre, head east today for a 4 p.m. game at Allen. Fort Worth, which has already clinched a playoff spot, trails the Americans by six points in the standings. The Brahmas beat Allen 5-2 on Friday night.

Allen, which owns the CHL’s best road record, started overtime in attack mode. Forward Kale Kerbashian skated to the right of goalie Kristofer Westblom and fired a pass left to Bootland, who knocked in his 22nd goal of the season and second of the night. Westblom stopped 24 shots in the game.

The Brahmas (35-19-8) took a 3-2 lead in the third period on a short-handed goal by forward Tomas Klempa, who lifted a shot over Americans goalie Steve Silverthorn for his 21st goal of the season and second of the game. It was the second consecutive two-goal game for Klempa .

But the Fort Worth lead was short-lived. Defenseman Trevor Hendrikx scored on the power play 20 seconds later to tie the score at 3 with 7:26 remaining in regulation.

The Americans also scored two power-play goals in the second period. Allen Defenseman Tyler Ludwig beat Westblom with a man advantage two minutes into the second to open the scoring. Later in the period, Bootland added another power-play goal to give the Americans a 2-1 lead.

Klempa helped the Brahmas keep pace in the second. He scored an even-strength goal 7 1/2 minutes into the period to tie the score at 1. Klempa later assisted on Ross Rouleau’s power-play goal with three minutes remaining in the period to make it 2-2.
