Arkansas-Little Rock put up 12 runs in the first five innings and cruised to a 12-2 victory over UT Arlington on Tuesday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field.

The Trojans (10-7) broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning in the first meeting between the teams in Little Rock. The Mavericks (9-7) end a four-game road trip with a 1-3 record and are 4-2 against UALR all-time.

Ryan Walker was one of only three Mavericks to notch a hit in the game with his first career home run in the first inning. Matt Shortall extended his hitting streak to seven games with two hits and Peter Cuomo also added a hit.

Jesse Harbin (1-0) picked up the victory for the Trojans, after giving up no runs on one hit in four innings of relief.

UTA’s Chad Nack (2-3) gave up nine runs on seven hits in 3 1/2 innings.

The first four hitters in the Trojans’ lineup combined to drive in 10 runs, including three by leadoff hitter Ben Crumpton and three by cleanup hitter John Clark. Austin Pfeiffer went 4-for-5 with two runs driving in.

UTA returns to action Friday at home against McNeese State in the opener of a three-game series.
