Tigers slip to fifth after playing top 2 teams

Coach John Fazekas called last week a huge one for his Mansfield boys soccer team.

The then-third-place Tigers played the first and second place teams in District 7-5A and nearly won both but dropped both games by a combined two goals.

“I feel like next week two good quality games will be going on,” he said before the slate of games.

He wasn’t far off. Mansfield lost both games in dramatic fashion, dropping a 1-0 result to Midlothian on Tuesday and losing 2-1 against Duncanville on Friday.

Mansfield now sits in fifth place after those two results, just behind third-place Cedar Hill and fourth-place Grand Prairie.

Mansfield girls rebound from losing streak

The Mansfield girls soccer team endured its first losing streak, dropping games to Timberview and Midlothian a week ago.

Mansfield ended the streak with a 1-0 win against Duncanville on Friday. McKayla Paulson scored the lone goal for the Lady Tigers.

Lake Ridge baseball scores a win against Nolan Catholic

Lake Ridge picked up its fifth win of the season on Friday, beating Nolan Catholic 7-1.

Lake Ridge held a 2-1 lead against Nolan entering the fifth inning, but that’s where the Eagles busted open the game, scoring five runs in the inning to secure the win.

Legacy softball torching opposing teams

Legacy coach Michelle Mayfield said this year’s Legacy team had a lot it wanted to show this season after exiting the playoffs earlier than expected last season.

If the early results so far are any indication, message received.

Legacy is 3-0 in District 15-4A and have won all three games by a combined margin of 45-0.

The Lady Broncos started with an 18-0 win against Summit, then a 10-0 win against Lake Ridge followed by a 17-0 win against Lancaster.

In Legacy’s 17-0 win against Lancaster, senior infielder Briana Walker hit two home runs.
