About the Mavs: This is the second game of a four-game road trip that the Mavs opened Friday with a 102-99 win over the Detroit Pistons. ... Within the past five days, the Mavs have pieced together a modest two-game winning streak with victories over Houston and Detroit to get themselves back in the playoff conversation. ... The Mavs are just 11-21 on the road and are guaranteed to have a losing record on the road this season. ... In the past two games, Dallas had a season-high 35 assists against Houston and 29 assists against Detroit. ... Brandan Wright has 26 points (13 of 17 FGs), eight rebounds and four blocks in 46 minutes over the past two games.

About the Timberwolves: A flood of injuries this season has crippled the Timberwolves, who have dropped 22 of their past 27 games since Jan. 9. ... Minnesota snapped a six-game losing streak with Wednesday’s 87-82 victory over Washington. In that game, Ricky Rubio contributed 15 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and six steals. ... Ex-Mavs guard J.J. Barea averages 11.1 ppg and 4.1 apg, and Rubio is averaging 8.9 ppg and 7.2 apg. ... The T-Wolves are 2-1 against the Mavs this season. Minnesota won in Dallas 90-82 on Nov. 12, and also beat the Mavs 114-106 in overtime in Minnesota on Dec. 15.
