A 33-year-old Springtown woman was arrested on suspicion of murder Friday night after the Parker County Sheriff's Department said she called 911 to report she had just shot her live-in boyfriend.
Richard Graves, 38, died at 11:31 p.m. in the hospital emergency room at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's website on Saturday.Roni Catherine Lisenbe, said she shot her boyfriend with a Glock 23 handgun in the abdomen after an argument escalated into a physical altercation, the sheriff's report said. When deputies arrived at the 3500 block of Texas 199 in Springtown, they found Lisenbe sitting on the front porch. Graves was discovered on the bedroom floor of the residence.Lisenbe, who was booked into the Parker County Jail with a bond set at $100,000, worked as a hair dresser at a ProCuts salon in Azle for six months, said co-worker Amy Sands. After living with Graves for couple of months, Lisenbe told Sands that she ordered Graves to move out at the end of the month after he tried to choke her last week."Roni is not the type of person who would shoot someone unless she was threatened," Sands went on. "She had to have really feared for her life ... She is really a sweet girl. I hate that this happened."No prior convictions for Lisenbe could be found in the Tarrant and Parker counties online database. In 2007, Graves served a 30-day jail term in Tarrant County for an assault with bodily injury.Susan McFarland, 817-390-7547Twitter: @susanmcfarland1Have more to add? News tip? Tell us
