North Texas got strong efforts from Jordan Williams, Roger Franklin and Tony Mitchell, but couldn’t produce enough offense to overcome Louisiana-Lafayette, suffering a season-ending 74-55 loss Friday night in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Hot Springs, Ark.
“I thought they did a great job of attacking us early,” North Texas coach Tony Benford said. “The second half we didn’t get into a flow offensively.”The defeat marks the earliest exit for the Mean Green (12-20, 7-13) from the Sun Belt Tournament since 2005-06, ending a three-year run in which North Texas reached the tourney’s championship.
